Brecca Linux Cluster
Brecca is now housed at Monash University and the processor time is divided equally between Monash users and VPAC approved projects. Access to this system is only via grid protocols and not through SSH and assistance is available through the VPAC grid team for people wishing to use it.
- 90 node, 180 CPU Linux Cluster based on Intel Pentium 4 Xeon 2.8 GHz cpus.
- Interconnect via Myrinet.
- Currently operational.
- Brecca has been rated at 630 GFlops which placed it at 124th position on the World's Top 500 Super Computer List in June 2003.
- Between 1 and 2 Gigs of RAM per node (total of 160 Gigabytes of RAM).
- Open source Torque PBS Job Manager

The name Brecca was reported to be a rival of Beowulf. They took part in a week long swim at sea. Although Brecca won the race Beowulf claimed that he, Beowulf, had to take time out to kill a couple of sea monsters. Hmm....
